An open letter to our passengers

Dear Passenger,

For more than ten years Manly Fast Ferry has served our Passengers as they travel across the Harbour.  We recognise that our reliable and fast service is important to you and we appreciate your patronage and loyalty to our service.

Unfortunately, the Manly Fast Ferry service will be disrupted on Wednesday 3 April due to industrial action by the CFMMEU. You may have received some material recently that claims that we have been underpaying our employees. We want to assure that these claims are incorrect. Our employees are paid above award rates and we are currently negotiating a collective agreement with our Masters that will deliver job growth and security, as well as a fair wage increase.

We are mindful of the impact of the Union’s industrial action on our customers, particularly when our vessels are used as a focal point for that industrial action.  In previous industrial action some union officials unfortunately took it upon themselves to block passenger access to and from our ferries. This resulted in unnecessary intimidation of some of our passengers.

To prevent a repeat of this unacceptable behaviour, Manly Fast Ferry will suspend operations from 6am-10am on Wednesday 3 April. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to your regular routine. A complimentary bus will be made available on Wednesday for customers from Manly to Circular Quay who are unable to make alternate arrangements.
